Our next introduction to jazz for girls aged between 8 and 12 will take place on Saturday 16th June at the New Unity Hall on Upper Street, London N1 2TZ from 1.45 to 4.15.

We are so pleased to share our introductory playlist for girls starting to play jazz. Listening to the greats is an essential part of developing as a jazz musician, and we have compiled an accessible playlist of top players. Enjoy!

Today we had our first Girl Plays Jazz Project workshop – introducing girls aged 8 to 12 to jazz improvisation. It was so awesome – we are really proud of all the girls who took the plunge, and played brilliantly. And we had support from our lovely pro house band. Can not wait until our next workshop in June/July, and our summer school provisionally on 30th August to 1st September.

Have you had between 2 and 3 years regular weekly tuition on your instrument?

Are you interested in having a go at playing jazz, funk, blues and pop – and making up (improvising) your own music?

Do you want to explore and play music with a group of girls your own age – with the help of a jazz band of friendly professional musicians?

Come along to the Girl Plays Jazz workshop on Saturday 17th March 2018 – at the New Unity Hall on Upper Street, Islington, London N1 2TZ.

The session will be from 2 to 4.30pm – and costs just £35!
