Girl Plays Jazz Project is delighted to have been awarded a National Lottery Project Grant by the Arts Council – to continue to run our live workshops, masterclasses and development opportunities from 2021 to 2023.
IN PERSON WORKSHOPS
All our workshops are open to girls aged 8 to 18 who have at least 2 years regular tuition on their instrument.
From September 2021 Girl Plays Jazz Project proudly presents: The Jazz Launch Pad – introducing girls and young women to jazz improvisation with the support of the Arts Council. All workshops cost £25 per participant, with free places available for those on low incomes and key workers.
Saturday 25 February 2023 afternoon – masterclass with saxophonist Julian Costello at New Unity Hall Upper Street Islington N1.
Sunday 19th March 2023 a.m. – SAMBA party! with Cyro Zuzi to celebrate our 5th birthday at New Unity Hall N1 2TZ!
Tuesday 11th April 2023 2 to 4.30pm – introduction to improvisation Mawgan Porth Village Hall, Cornwall.
Sunday 16th April 2023 – double art and music masterclass – free jazz with Charlotte Keeffe and collage/painting with jazz painter Gina Southgate.

Sunday 23rd January 2022 @ 2pm to 5 pm at the WAC Arts Centre in Belsize Park – a collaboration of jazz and art with the renowned artist Gina Southgate.
In this very special workshop, girls aged 8 to 18 will be able to come along as musicians to play jazz with the support of the professional house band AND will be able to work with Gina to create abstract art with collage techniques and paintings inspired by the jazz performance. Girls can take part as musicians, as artists or as both!
